Getting to grips with the Big Society, 28 September, 26 October and 18 November 2010

This Autumn NPC is hosting a series of events to explore ideas raised by the new government’s Big Society agenda. The seminars will focus on three issues: how to communicate impact, how to scale up successfully, and what we can learn from community groups. We’ve lined up an exciting range of speakers who will share their experience, offer practical lessons, and provide an opportunity for discussion and debate.

Trustee Forum: Reporting impact, Tuesday 12 October 2010

Continued strategic training for trustees

The Trustee Forum, hosted by Sayer Vincent, is a supported network of member organisations with a common interest in improving charity effectiveness by promoting good governance. The forum aims to support trustees by focusing on key areas such as HR, finance, IT and funding. It is a platform for exchanging ideas and sharing learning, experiences, and past successes.

Reporting Impact is the first of four structured discussions exploring how far charities should go in developing systems to help them communicate the value of their work. Speakers will include NPC’s Tris Lumley and Belinda Vernon who will discuss how charities communicate impact and, based on NPC’s work on good trusteeship, explore what a trustee’s responsibilities and role may be in helping a charity to communicate its impact.  Further information about the Forum, including booking, is available from Sayer Vincent's website here.

'Raising the finance for core costs and strategic investments can be very difficult. NPC was able to talk about us as a business, telling large donors how they could help us be where we want to be in five years.'
