Charity analysis

NPC has analysed hundreds of charities over the past six years - you can see some of these examples of analysis here. You can also read how charities have benefitted from analysis.

Our approach to analysis

The little blue book: NPC's charity analysis framework shares our approach to charity analysis. Since its launch in February this year, it has been downloaded 2,500 times. You can buy or download your copy here.

The little blue book highlights six key areas that NPC analysts focus on:

  • Activities: Do the charity's activities address a genuine need?
  • Results: Can it demonstrate results of what it has achieved?
  • Leadership: Do trustees and management provide high quality leadership?
  • People and resources: Does it use staff, volunteers and resources well?
  • Finances: Are the finances sound?
  • Ambition: Is it ambitious to solve social problems?

Our charity analysis service

In response to demand from charities, charities can now commission NPC to analyse them, or ask their funders to support this. They can also get help from NPC's measurement experts with measuring their results and demonstrating their impact.

NPC welcomes regular dialogue with charities about what they would find most helpful and what they think of NPC's analysis. Contact Iona Joy, Head of Charity Analysis, if you want to get in touch.
