Why I work at NPC
Matilda Macduff - Marketing Executive
NPC isn’t afraid to stir things up a bit, which makes working in the communications team here particularly exciting—fast-paced and a little unpredictable. Part of NPC’s mission is to inspire and lead debate within the sector, and get people talking about effectiveness. In my time at NPC I’ve been involved in such a variety of work, from coordinating our digital marketing, to organising NPC events, to writing blogs and press articles about our research. I’ve worked on client projects with the consulting team, interviewed some inspirational people, and learned a lot about how the sector works.
Despite our analytical approach, NPC is not full of measurement-obsessed robots, but staff who are passionate about the work they’re doing and the potential impact it has on people’s lives. Everyone here really believes in what we’re trying to do. The range of expertise within NPC has allowed me to learn about so many different areas of the charity sector, and it’s fantastic to work with people who are real experts in their field. My opinions have been listened to from the start, and with the freedom and support to try new ideas I feel I’m able to make a real contribution to NPC.
I joined NPC in March 2010, after interning for 6 months at a climate change charity. When I graduated I didn’t have a fixed career plan—but I knew I wanted to do something interesting, creative, challenging, and relevant. Working at NPC fits the bill exactly.
