Why I work at NPC

Joanna Watson - Office Manager

I joined NPC in May 2006 after having worked in various recruitment consultancies in project coordinator roles since 2002. I was primarily looking to move away from the private sector and into the third sector to experience greater job satisfaction with less of a focus on targets and revenue.

I have found NPC to be both extremely satisfying and challenging in equal doses! I am constantly exposed to new things which enable me to develop myself, and therefore my career, rapidly. I have increased my skill-base hugely since joining and am involved in several aspects of NPC life which I never thought would be open to me. As well as managing the office, I assist in the coordination of the production of research reports, manage events and work closely with our COO on the financial side of the organisation.

I far prefer the fact that I know everybody in the organisation because it is much smaller than my previous employers. It is much easier to be collaborative in this environment which results in well thought-out and well-presented projects.

Unlike in a larger organisation, I feel that I am able to make my views heard and I can influence decisions using the experience I have gained. I am much more confident and will feel extremely well equipped when it is time to move on.
