NPC Staff
Plum Lomax
Senior Consultant
plomax@philanthropycapital.org
Plum provides strategic advice on effective charitable giving to a range of clients, including individuals and families, corporate foundations and grant-making trusts. Her work with clients has included helping various small family trusts as they start out with their giving, running introductory philanthropy workshops for the next generation, and she recently helped a client wishing to set up a charitable trust after his death to set objectives for giving, creating guidelines to ensure trustees use his money to greatest effect.
She also works with a range of private client advisors, including private banks, lawyers and family offices, helping them better support their clients’ giving. As part of this role, she regularly trains advisors on developing their philanthropy knowledge and has advised an international investment bank on the development of a distinctive philanthropy offering for its clients.
Plum has commissioned two important pieces of research into the philanthropy advice market, Advice needed and More advice needed. In March 2010 she co-authored a report on building the market for philanthropy advice, The Business of Philanthropy, and led the establishment of a philanthropy advice forum to take the recommendations from the report forward.
Before joining NPC in 2003, Plum was Head of European Equity Strategy at Merrill Lynch. She has also worked with small businesses and charities in London and Cape Town.
